Sleeping positions – good, bad or ugly

sleep position

As you know a big slice of hour day is spent in bed while asleep, so it’s very important to sleep in a position the doesn’t  ruin your spine. There are three positions: the back position, side position and the stomach position.

Click read more to see about this positions and to know which one is best.

Back position (best) - good
This is the best position to sleep because your head, neck and spine stay at neutral position, so it won’t pronounce the curves on your back. It’s also good for the acid reflux because your head is above the stomach level, and that way the acid or food won’t come back up. And besides that, it prevents wrinkles because your face ins’t in contact with the bed. Finally, if you´re a woman, the breasts weight in fully supported, reducing their sagginess.
The only con against this position is that, if you snore, the noise will be louder and more frequent.
Recommended pillow: A puffy pillow, so that your head stays comfortable and that your neck stays unharmed.

Side Position (intermediate) – bad
This position prevents neck and back pain, reduces acid reflux, makes you snore less (if you do), and it’s a good way to sleep during pregnancy, because it is good to your blood flow.
It has a downside mainly for women, you get wrinkles, beacause your face is in contact with the pillow. And it increases breats sag because are dangling downward, and so stretching ligaments.
Recommended pillow: A thick one, to fill the space above your shoulder, so that your head and necks stays in a neutral position.
There is a variation of  this position called fetal position ( position when you were a fetus), that doesn’t “sag” the breasts but it restricts diaphragmatic breathing, you stil get wrinkles and, after a night with your knees pulled up and your chin tucker into your chest, you may feel it in the morning.
Stomach position (worst) – ugly
In this position you will not prevent wrinkles, you won’t maintain a neutral position (yor neck will be turned to one side for hours!), which leads to neck and back pain (sometimes, if not, good for you!.
Recommended pillow: A thin one or none.
